USA Today Travel quotes Pauline in "More destinations shut the door on vacation rentals", by Laura Bly, August 6 2010. The article discusses new laws in New York, Chicago and Paris to limit the number of vacation rentals in these cities. "Vacation rentals in the USA and elsewhere 'have been operating illegally for years, but now, it's hitting the radar,' says Pauline Kenny of SlowEurope.com, a guide to European vacation rentals. 'In a way, they're suffering from their own popularity.'"
Vacation rentals: 9 things to know on MSNBC, article by Christopher Elliott, May 2010. "Remember, you’re renting an apartment or house - not a room in a hotel. 'Some things may go wrong,' warns Pauline Kenny, a vacation rental expert who runs Slow Europe."

The Paris vacation rental agency Haven in Paris interviews Pauline about their version of slow travel.
"Pauline Kenny, founder & owner of www.sloweurope.com, can be difficult to track down. After renting a 2 bedroom in the Latin Quarter through Haven in Paris, Pauline and her husband Steve embarked upon an extended trip through Europe, staying in a variety of vacation rentals along the way."

Dream of Italy - Special Report: Villa Rentals
The September 2008 issue of the Dream of Italy newsletter is all about Villa Rentals and is the first media mention for Slow Europe :)
I worked with Kathy McCabe (editor and publisher of Dream of Italy) and Valerie Schneider on the issue. The main article is about my experience with Slow Travel - both this way of travel (staying in villa rentals) and running the Slow Travel website: how I became a Slow Traveler, creating the Slow Travel website and community, renting from agencies vs. owners, changes in vacation rental agencies in the past decade.
Another article is "How to Find a Good Villa Rental Agency" - what we look for in a good agency. We wrote about terms used to talk about vacation rentals - villa rentals, holiday cottages, agriturism, etc. - "you say tomato, I say tomahto".
Kathy added some great tips for first-time renters. We put our heads together and came up with a three page list of recommended villa rentals for Italy, by region (agencies and estates with cottages).
