<description>Hello Fiona, thanks for posting! So you were in Kandersteg just the week before us!! We had a lovely 4 nights and would have stayed longer, but they were fully booked.

If you are looking for a vacation rental in Gstaad, I would recommend Saanen. We spent two weeks there in 2003, and two weeks in Gstaad this summer. Being is Gstaad is great because of all the restaurants and shops, and you can walk to the Wispile ride, but Saanen is more usable. You can park in the center of town for free, there are two good tea rooms for breakfast and a few good small grocery stores. You have to drive to the Migros or Coop in Gstaad.

We have a great message board here - www.slowtalk.com - come and join us and lets talk about Switzerland!!

		<description>Pauline

I was idly googling for an apartment in Gstaad and your blog came up. I started reading and couldn't believe my eyes, because we were in one of the Adams' apartment just before you (July 15-22) and go there every year. We just love Kandersteg and the range of different walks that you can do. This year we went to the Aletsch Glacier for the first time ever and hiked through the UNESCO-protected forest. It was busy, but so spectacular you can understand why. Last year we spent three days in Gstaad and had some fabulous walking, but this year our dates were different and our first week clashed with the Tennis Championship, so obviously that was no go. I would really like to go back there next year; would you recommend the apartment you were staying in? The views look great.
We live in Edinburgh and have a great variety of walks within an hour and a half's drive: sea, mountains, castles, farmland, woods, rolling hills, lochs, so our holidays have to provide something different. Which Switzerland does in spades. I'm so glad that it appeals to you too.
All the best, Fiona Dick
