Photos - Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast
These photos are not recent and the quality is not great, but they give you a good overview of the area. We spent two weeks based in Sorrento and explored the area by public transportation. We had a rental car for the last few days. We took the ferry to Capri, walked to towns above Sorrento, took the train to the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum and to Naples (no photos), and drove to towns on the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. We arrived in Sorrento the day before 9/11 and then spent six weeks in Italy, with the numbers of American tourists getting smaller as our vacation went along. Fall 2001
