Vacation Rental Name: La Ferme

We spent 5 nights in La Ferme at Basse Copette on a short trip to the Loire Valley and Normandy. La Ferme is a 2bed/2bath house on two levels. It is attached to the owner's house (Thomas) but feels very private. In July and August it is a vacation rental that you rent by the night; the rest of the year it is run as a B&B offering 2 rooms. This is an historic house, renovated beautifully. Thick walls, lovely beams on the top level.

The other vacation rental on the property, La Grange, is nearby but not close. They have their own private area for sitting outside. There is a nice small shared swimming pool with lots of nice loungers and chairs.

Basse Copette is a hamlet of just a few houses and feels very rural. There are other small towns nearby.

The living room and dining room are one large room with lots of light. Furniture is beautiful and very comfortable. No TV. The kitchen is not as elegant as the rest of the place but was good enough - we made breakfast and dinner there each day. Beside the kitchen there is a very nice glassed in terrace with a dining table - perfect for a summer evening dinner or for breakfast.

Upstairs are two large bedrooms separated by a hall. The only downside is that the bathrooms are very ensuite - separated only by a curtain - but this is due to the nature of the building and you get used to it.

Beautiful views of forests and the Bresle Valley from the house and yard. I loved waking up and standing in the upstairs window looking at the lovely morning view.

We had a chance to look at the other vacation rental on the property, La Grange, and it is lovely. Spacious, lovely furnishings, nice outside areas.

In 10 minutes by car in either direction you are in nice towns with cafes and shops. Under an hour to Rouen (a magnificent city with many historic timber framed buildings) and Dieppe. Just over an hour to WWII sites (Omaha Beach) and an hour to WWI sites (The Somme).

Basse Copette is a good location for exploring northern Normandy and Picardy. If coming from England, it is only 1.5 hrs by car from the Calais ferry.

We visited in late April/early May - weather was cool this year, but its crazy everywhere. Didn't hamper us or deter us at all. Such a wonderful place to base our Normandy Holiday. Within driving of WW1 & WW2 D Day beaches, Vimy Ridge, Beaumont-Hamel, Bayeaux tapestry, Eu, Treport, Etretat and Paris and Giverny-Monets Garden. Something for everyone in the area. Did I mention Thomas' yummy apple flan and local Cider.

GPS guided us everywhere, made getting out of CDG airport easy, two hours later Aumale then Bass Copette. Fields of yellow canola, trees bursting with spring blossoms, cafe on the terrace, shopping at local markets, fantastic poolside view and French pastries are all good memories. Thomas always willing to assist or advise. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would return.

Our mid-April holiday was lovely at Basse-Copette. Waking up to such beautiful views in the morning was a real treat. Staying in such a small rural community and having three children, one of whom severly handicapped and wheelchair bound was a daunting challenge for us. However, Thomas was kind and respectful of our much needed family time together, but was willing to step in and keep an eye on our two youngest when he sensed the pressure was on. He made us all feel so welcome and safe that when time came to return to Blighty, we wondered why we were leaving. He looked after us whenever he thought he was needed...which gave my wife and I some much needed relief. "La Grange" although not wheelchair adapted presented few problems as there is so much room, although the two shower rooms were not terribly easy to access. Overall for the able bodied, it provides excellent family accomodation, and is nicely situated for many interesting sites. Its idyllic perch between the hills and the forest and friendly neighbours gave us a "real" taste of Normandy. But, what makes our family think Basse-Copette is special is its excellent host. Salut Thomas!

We have just got back from a week long stay self catering at Basse Copette. The accommodation was spacious, full of charm and spotless. The views, the pool and the tranquility made this a trip to remember. Although in a rural spot, we were within easy reach of costal beaches and visited Honfleur, Monet's Garden at Giverny, Paris and the Somme battlefields all from this location. The kitchen facilities were great, but we couln't resist a little bit of Thomas' home cooking on the last night.

Thomas is the owner and host, very helpful and easy to deal with, he is full of useful information to help the holiday go smoothly. Would be confident that anyone would love a stay here. Thank you.

Our stay at Basse Coppette was one of those wonderful surprises that we will never forget. The Bresle Valley is very beautiful and Basse Coppette nestles in what can only be described as a Rural Idyll. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations: the ease of travel (only an hour from Boulogne); the B&B accommodation was wonderfully spacious, and beautifully presented; our breakfasts were fabulous; the meals that we ate at Basse Coppette were better than any we had in Restaurants during our stay and Thomas is a host par excellence. His lovely company, advice and wonderful generosity have guaranteed our return next year and recommendations to all our friends.
