Vegetarian Restaurants in Paris
We spent a week in Paris in May 2009. I am a vegetarian and Steve is more or less vegan but he eats fish. France is not the best country for vegetarians if you go to the "normal" restaurants, but there is a large network of vegetarian restaurants and natural food shops throughout the country.
I used various resources on the web to make this list of vegetarian restaurants in Paris.
My favorite restaurant was Les Cinq Saveurs d'Anada (in the 5th), followed closely by Le Potager du Marais (in the 3rd). And I loved Maoz for a quick lunch or dinner. Because we made several meals in our apartment, we did not get to try as many of the restaurants as I wanted to.
Vegetarian, Vegan and Macrobiotic Restaurants
Restaurants ordered by arrondissement (e.g. 75005 is the 5th arrondissement). Marked with * if we ate there. Piccolo Teatro in the Marais, featured on a Gordon Ramsey show, is closed. This page is formatted to print an easy to use list.
Saveurs Végét'Halles (75001 - Metro: Chatelet or Les Halles)
41, Rue des Bourdonnais, www.saveursvegethalles.fr
We walked by but did not have a meal there. Very good looking menu with some Macrobiotic choices. On a small street south of Les Halles - not a very pretty street. recommended by veganparis
Le Potager du Marais (75003 - Metro: Rambuteau) *
22 Rue Rambuteau
We had a wonderful lunch here. Small, narrow restaurant in a good location (pretty street). Very good vegetarian food with vegan options. I had their vegetarian French Onion Soup and a special of the day (cauliflower puree over a vegetable ragout), Steve had a quinoa burger. Good service, good food. recommended by veganparis and parisvegetarian

65 Rue du Faubourg Poissonnière

La Victoire Suprême du Coeur (75004 - Metro: Hotel de Ville)

Les Cinq Saveurs d'Anada (75005 - Metro: Place Monge) *
72 Rue Cardinal-Lemoine, www.anada5saveurs.com
We had a good dinner in this Macrobiotic-oriented restaurant. (Miso soup, dinners with choice of tofu, tempeh, seitan or fish, good brown rice.) Good food and good, friendly service. In the Latin Quarter near Rue Moufftard. recommended by veganparis
Le Grenier de Notre-Dame (75005 - Metro: Saint Michel) *
18 Rue de la Bûcherie
We had a good dinner in this Macrobiotic-oriented restaurant. Known for their vegetarian cassoulet but it did not look that appealing to me. Good seitan dishes. Caution: A very narrow spiral staircase to the upstairs seating area. Located on a small street near Notre Dame. They have a second location at Rue des Deux-Ponts (Metro: Pont Marie). recommended by veganparis and parisvegetarian
Maoz Vegetarian (75005 - Metro: Saint Michel) *
8 Rue Xavier Privas, www.maozveg.com
We loved this small falafel place in the crowded lanes of the Latin Quarter near Saint Michel and the river. Order a small or large falafel (get the large, it is not so big) and they give you the basics - pita with lettuce and falafel - then you add extras from their salad bar (cooked carrots, tomatoes, olives, sauces, etc.). You can eat there (3 small tables), walk down to the river and eat while leaning on the bridge or get them to wrap it in tin foil to take home. Also great french fries (chips). We had their falafel several times. recommended by veganparis and parisvegetarian
Guen Mai (75006 - Metro: Saint-Germain-des-Pres)
6 Rue Cardinale
We looked at the shop and restaurant but did not eat here (arrived too late). A shop with a small restaurant area serving lunch only. Macrobiotic. Located in a cute lane off Saint Germain des Pres. recommended by veganparis
