Tuscany (Toscana): Tuscany is a large region in central Italy with famous art cities (Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena), dramatic hilltowns (San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano) and beautiful countryside (the famous Chianti wine-producing area, the Crete).
Umbria: Called the "green heart" of Italy, Umbria is in the center of the country, east of Tuscany. See where St Francis of Assisi lived and preached in Assisi, visit the beautiful hill towns of Spello, Spoleto and Todi.
Marche - Abruzzo: Central Italy on the eastern Adriatic coast. The Marche borders on Umbria; the Abruzzo on Lazio.

Southern Italy
Campania: This region, south of Lazio and Rome, has ancient Roman ruins at Pompeii and Paestum, the famous Sorrento Penisula and Amalfi Coast, Naples where pizza was invented and much more.
Southern Italy: Southern Italy, also called the Mezzogiorno, is the less-prosperous part of Italy - less populated and off the beaten tourist track. Regions - Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria
Islands
Sardinia (Sardegna): An island in the Mediterranean off the coast of Italy known for its jet-set "Emerald Coast".
Sicily (Sicília): A large island off the "toe" of Italy, connected to the mainland by ferries, with a live volcano, Roman ruins and more.
