A few days in Lisbon – local areas, food spots and things to do beyond main sights?

I’ll be spending a few days in Lisbon at the end of summer and looking for some local areas, cafes, and simple things to do outside the main tourist spots. I’ve already seen the main attractions before (July 2025, goddamn that was hot), so this time I’d prefer a slower pace, just walking around different neighbourhoods, finding good coffee, local food places, and places with a more authentic feel. I also like markets and small hidden spots rather than busy sightseeing.

Any neighbourhoods, food spots, or easy ideas for a relaxed few days would be great.

Is it just me or have the replies dropped off? Years ago there would be an answer almost instantly but now its rare to get more than one or two answers. I too am planning to stay a few days in Lisbon next month. I found some very nice advice using Google AI, maybe that's why the replies have dropped off. All though the AI advice looked good, I'd still like to hear from a human. :-)

Hello! We stayed at Casa Balthazar in the beginning of May. It was very quiet on a dead end street in Chiado. Very lovely, quiet and amazing staff. The neighborhood was not overly busy and easily accessible to Barrio Alto and the Baixa areas. The hotel recommended Oficina do Duque and Castro (Portuguese) for restaurants. Both were excellent. We also went to Gunpowder (Indian) which came highly recommended.
