This is great Pauline! Looking forward to interacting with you again on travel related topics (and hopefully seeing you at some GTG's!!!). Can't wait to see how this evolves and just excited to be a part of this new community right from the beginning.

It is good to see a lot of familiar people on here already.

For those that don't me, I have been living in Rome for the past 12 years and living on and off in Zagreb during that time. I work primarily in travel as well as in the wine industry.

I have a tourism company called 3 Millennia Tours. We specialize in private and group tours of Rome, but yet also offer interesting services like wine tastings, pizza making classes, behind the scenes experiences, limo services, etc., etc. Even though our specialty is Rome, we also handle services throughout the country.

In addition, I am heavily involved in the wine industry with a focus on Italian wines. I have consulted on a couple of published wine guides in Italy, have managed a wine cellar at an exclusive resort, host wine tastings and wine tours, and have just this past week been selected by the US Embassy in Rome to be their wine instructor for their employees (so excited about this!!!!). Lastly, I am currently writing my own wine guide for Italy. This will not be your normal wine guide, this will be a tourist guide from a wine perspective. If you are in Italy and love wine where do you go? Which wineries, restaurants, wine bars, etc.? It is due to be released this coming spring! It is called Italy for Wine Lovers.

Ciao Tony! I'm sorry it's been so long since our paths crossed, but I'm glad to see you here, obviously healthy and happy. My son is in charge of the Marines at the Embassy - wonder if they'll get to take part part? (probably not!) Best of luck in your newest endeavors!

Ciao Barb (and Art),

Well I assume our paths will cross sometime soon if your son is now working in Rome. I am sure you will come to visit, correct?

I have not met your son yet. I was at the going away party for the Staff Sergeant who was in charge and just left a couple of months ago. But have not met the new guy in charge. I did some asking around and was told that the new gunny who is in charge, his last name is Rincon. Is that your son?

I think he would be able to take the class. You should tell him to! It was suppose to start next wednesday the 29th, but has been postponed. Probably will start the following week.

Tell him that if he needs anything, he should feel free to look me up. I will take care of him.

Hi Tony! No, unfortunately my son isn't in Rome all the time - he's based in Frankfurt and is the CO of the Marines in embassies/consulates in Western Europe, so he travels quite a bit - tough job, huh?! He was able to bring his family to Rome last summer, then to Pisa for a conference, but I have no idea how long he stays at one embassy - I guess it can range from a day to a week, which is why I figured he wouldn't be able to take your class. (he's a Lt Col, and his last name is Chawk, just in case you ever do cross paths!)

We'll be in Italy this summer but unfortunately won't be stopping in Rome this time....:(

Take care!
