Best day Trip from Madrid

I'm going to Madrid for a week, just because. I've been before, but not for over 10 years. I'll do the Prado, Reina Sofia, and the usual Madrid things, but want to spend one or maybe even two days on a side trip. I've been to Toledo and loved it (again, over 10 years ago) but haven't been to Avila or Segovia. Any ideas?

Aranjuez is also pretty...
If you have time have a look at Matadero a new space in Southern Madrid with exhibits (+ theatres, libraries, filmoteque and bars) in the old slaughterhouse (I absolutely love the architecture and the ambience.
Also if you haven't been in 10 years go to Malasaña, hipster and old Madrid mixed together in an interesting way

Segovia is nice; the aqueduct is amazing and there's also a castle said to be the inspiration for Disney's castles.
