Help Needed Bologna Guide

Despite the many trips we have made to Italy, we have never stayed in Bologna. We will be there for a couple of weeks in March. We would like to take a walking tour when we first arrive to orient ourselves to the city and the various possibilities we can explore in more depth over the ensuing days. Can anyone recommend a guide from personal experience?

The Bologna tourist office have some self-guided walks available, e.g. we did a quirky one, exploring the old waterways that have been mostly built over / around. A good way to see suburban Bologna.

IIRC they also run organised city walks, and are generally a decently active/inventive tourist office. They're based in Piazza Nettuno (aka Piazza Maggiore).

With the extensive porticoed streets, it's a decent city to walk around even if the weather is bad (or indeed too hot/sunny)

Thanks for the response. We have found that tourist office tours can be hit-or-miss in the quality of the guide and the tour. Also, we would rather a private tour where we can modify based on what is interesting us. I prefer to find a guide that someone has actually used and were satisfied enough with the quality to recommend.
