Information Border Checks UK

Hello.

We travelled from Amsterdam-Britain-Ireland last year. There were severe security checks at the Dutch-UK border. Less so at the UK-Ireland border.

Perhaps someone could tell us if the checks at the Dutch-UK border were as a result of the UK being an external country or was it because we were travelling by Eurostar ?

Travel between the UK and Ireland is smoother because of the CTA, despite the UK being an external country. So we can't tell if the difference at the Dutch-UK border was due to the Eurostar or otherwise.

I don't have great insight, but do know that Border Force in the UK were suffering staff shortages, and aren't the most efficient organisation at the best of times.

So I expect more likely to be operational issues rather than anything specific around Eurostar, and with strikes planned, the risk of delays may still be strong
