This service, using air conditioned railcars, is a useful alternative to the crowded unreserved Circumvesuviana train. Fares for Campania Express are higher: 8 Euros to Sorrento (versus 3.60 Euros) and 6 Euros to Pompei Villa dei Misteri (versus 2.60 Euros). As contrasted to the Circumvesuviana, passengers on the Campania Express ARE allowed to make en-route stopovers on the same day of first use (for example, stop in Pompei and proceed later in the afternoon to Sorrento). For round-trip purchases, the return trip MAY be on a different day from the outbound journey.
