Chioggia day trip or stay Sept 2026

Our Italy itinerary next year starts in Bergamo- flying into Milano from Australia.
We will travel by public transport.
5 nights Bergamo
4 Padova
4 Ferrara
3 Commacchio
Then down the Adriatic Coast.
My constant research means I keep discovering new places to visit, that are a little off the tourist trail!
I’ve been reading about Chioggia and wondering if we should try a day trip from Padova, or take a night from there and Ferrara and stay a couple of nights??
The transport to Ferrara or Commacchio is a bit confusing though.
If anyone has suggestions it would be appreciated.
Thank you

Sounds great. We have done of those cities and other similar ones. It’s great you are spending time there instead of a day trip. Many of that type of town is worth a few days. If you want to pay for my trip, I’ll join you if you can pay for my trip and be your private interpreter

What time of year? I have friends who often go there (Chioggia) - but not in July and August due to heat and mosquitoes
I meant to say we will be travelling from early Sept through to mid October.
If we visited Chioggia it would be mid Sept.

A quick look suggests no direct services on bus or train (connecting Chioggia with those two bases). Best option seems to be a 1 change train route, with the connection at Rovigo.
