Clocks changed this weekend in the UK and Europe

I know it changed to Daylight Savings time a few weeks ago in the US/Canada. Our clocks moved forward an hour this weekend, so we are now on British Summer Time (BST).

I'm not a morning person, so I appreciate it being light later in the day, but I wish we did not change the clocks like this every year. It is like a mini-jetlag twice a year.

One summer we traveled to the Loire Valley, which is more or less straight south of us, and they were on European Summer Time. It was still light out at 11pm!

I would like it if the UK was the same time zone as France - but that is just for my own convenience.

My Skype Pen-pal in France called me at 8 am today instead of the usual 9 am. She was confused. Good thing I had finished my breakfast and had my phone next to me

I just saw a story that some parking meters in Rome didn't get the time reset, and they printed tickets with an expiration an hour earlier than they should have shown. ATAC, which manages city transportation and the meters, have said people will be reimbursed for the extra hour they paid for in this case.
