First trip and not enough time!

During all my time in Italy, I somehow never made it to Spain. That changes in May, 2027!
I’ll be meeting my son for a surf weekend somewhere and then meet up with a friend for about ten days.

I am leaning toward the south, but then I’m stuck. We’d like to go to Malaga, Cordoba, Seville, maybe Ronda.
Of course I prefer a base and a few day trips, but a day trip doesn’t seem like nearly enough time in any of those places and they all seem too far from one another anyway (my day trip threshold is 90 mins max each way).

Then again we could focus on the north…

Seville would be a great base - lots to see and do there and day trips are quite possible. Trains to Jerez or Cordoba or Cadiz are easy day trips. If you will have a car and can stretch your tolerance to an hour and 45 minutes, you can do Ronda, and Antequera. Malaga by car is more like 2 hours 15 minutes, If you have a car and are staying in the historic center in Seville (which I recommend) you will want to park outside the walls. We found some reasonably priced parking garages just outside the Macarena gate, although there are likely many other places as well which might be closer to where you are staying. Spain is great - you won't go wrong whichever region you pick.
