Sicily Good base in Sicily?

We are planning to visit Sicily in mid-Nov for about 5 days. Easiest to fly into Catania from our location. Looking for recommendations for those who have been to Sicily for a good base - would like to see Mt Etna and Valle dei Templi. I do have mobility limitations. Probably renting a car but not yet decided.
Thanks

For your visit to Agrigento, you should definitely rent a car. If you only have five days, you might base for three on the slopes of Etna and the other two nights in Agrigento. Or you could stay in Catania (lots to see and do) and take the train to around Etna. Or, since you are in the area, think about a visit to Siracusa/Ortygia--one of the best Sicilian destinations. Lots of options.....

We have been to Sicily with my godson (who has mobility limitations), and we found good info here. We did rent a car and stayed at San Vito Lo Capo, but we went during summer so our main goal was to have accessible beaches. I understand it's completely the opposite side of Etna though, so if you decide not to rent a car you should definitely find somewhere closer to stay. But there is no need to limit your visit to one place (especially if you only have 5 days), you can go around the island still. I hope that helps. Enjoy it!
