Headed to Paris next week!

I haven't been to France since 2007! And never as a vegetarian! This should be interesting. ;)

I've done some research on Happy Cow (tons of veg options!) and taken recommendations from a couple of veg groups on facebook. http://www.happycow.net/europe/france/paris/ Honestly, though, I don't expect to have trouble finding non-meat options.

Today I almost booked a reservation on the 19th for a tour at the new Picasso museum ... has anyone been since the renovation? I'm not a huge Picasso fan but am curious about the collection, and the art that inspired him.

Our traditional Five Star Lounge Tour is planned for the 15th, although I can't tell you how BUMMED I am that the Ritz is undergoing renovation! Bad Timing, Ritz Paris! A luxury hotel recently opened with a gorgeous bar that may prove a good substitute ... I will report back. :D

Thanks for that link! Several of the places on your list showed up elsewhere, so I'll take that as a good sign.
I hope to try a meal at Le Grenier de Notre Dame - I love seitan, and used to love cassoulet. I'm curious about a veggie version!

Have a wonderful trip, Colleen!
While the Picasso museum was under renovation, some of the art traveled to a show at the Seattle Art Museum (where I'm a docent.) I'd go if I were you, as they have an amazing collection, with pieces from various times in his life so you'll see a variety of artwork, not just cubism.

I missed the Picasso museum - ten days just wasn't long enough to do and see all I wanted!
We did see the marvelous Magnum photo journalist exhibit at the Hotel de Ville : http://www.magnumphotos.com/C.aspx?VP3=CMS3&VF=MAXO31_3&VBID=2K1HZOQ8FXV4N7&IID=2K1HRG6NP46J
We lucked out and walked right in; no line and although it was a little crowded inside, if you waited a moment you could see each photo. Marcel Marceau without mime makeup! Charles de Gaulle and his wife at the breakfast table, Simone de Beauvoir ... and powerful photos of 1968 and the years before and after.

A visit to the new Louis Vuitton Foundation building is worth the effort. Architect Frank Gehry's design is amazing - kind of like a weird insect shell from one angle, and like an ark or sailing ship from another. We heard mixed reviews on the art inside, as well as the sturdiness of the building - leaks and repairs already needed. But from the outside - Very Cool.

re: Five Star Lounge Tour - the new Peninsula hotel is a definite GO. The Kleber bar has everything you want in a splurge outing: French champagne by the glass or bottle, over-sized gilt mirrors, ferns, lovely lighting ... and a yurt! Still not sure why it was just outside the door, but ... it was a conversation piece, that's for sure!
