Hello! Looking for recommendations! We will be in central costa brava for the first 3 nights of our 10 day trip. Planning to do a lot of beach/ hiking/ exploring the village(s) and cami de Ronda during that time. The next 4 nights are up in the air…

Ideas so far: Cadaques and inland villages for 2 days with vineyard stops, possible bike rental ( potentially Peralada, Besalu, Girona?), then two days further into Pyrenees before we head to Barcelona for our last 3 nights.

Interests: gorgeous scenery, authentic culture/food, old world vibe, markets, , hikes, horseback riding if it’s scenic, wine/ vineyards, art. Also, looking for recommendations for natural hot springs hike on Spanish side of Pyrenees!

Although dated (places close, ownerships and prices change) you may find something of use in my trip report "More Brava than Costa"
Enjoy your travels
Dennis

Thanks Dennis!

We plan to explore Cadaques for the day and then drive inland to Emporada. If we want to spend the following day or two exploring Peralada/ Besalu area villages. Do you have any specific locations you’d recommend as a base for two nights? I love the idea of a farm house Mas stay but open to anything. Good base for area villages, vineyards, beautiful spots to rent e-bikes. We will be driving to the hotel at night after Cadaques. Good vineyard recommendations welcome!!!

Hello Laura:
We highly recommend Merce's hotel, Nui de Sol, in Palau-Saverdera. Friends have stayed since our visit and found her service continues to be friendly and professional. We were able to visit most locations in the Alt Emporada easily from this location.
I confess we mostly took our litre jug to Palau's co-op for our wine. Mas Romeu in Palau had very nice wines. We only visited two other cellars: Martin Faixo near Cadaques and Mas Llunes in Garrguella.

Cadaques plus some inland villages sounds like a great mix with the coast. Girona and Besalu are both full of charm and history. For the Pyrenees you’ll find plenty of hiking and scenic drives and there are a few natural hot springs near La Seu d’Urgell and around Vall de Boi worth checking out.
