La Foce

I've been meaning to post some news regarding La Foce, for those of you who know it well. Since we always stay at Sant'Antonio, which is very near La Foce, we see it often. The Castle has been sold, and is completely covered with scaffolds. Whoever bought it is restoring it. I'm not sure if it has been bought by an individual or corporation, but thinking it might become a B&B or small hotel??? I forgot to ask if the pool area was included, but I'm assuming it is. We look forward to seeing it's progress next May, when we return. Perhaps, someone here has more information.

We have not been back to La Foce since 2011 when we spent 8 days at Terre di Nano in Monticcheillo. Our last 2 Italy trips, we have stayed further north in San Gusme. I was thinking we might return to the Val d’Orcia and stay at La Foce on our next Italy visit...have you ever stayed there?

Mom 83, we have not, but have been tempted. We have become such good friends with Nico, and love his property so much, we can't drag ourselves away. Truthfully, I think it would have been fun to stay in the castle. Have you read "War In Val D'Orcia"? Wonderful book about Iris Origo's Diary during WWII, including how the castle was used to hide Allies.

Yes, I read “War in Val d’Orcia” right before our 2011 trip since we planned to visit the property. I have also read several of her other books...most recently “Images and Shadows”. She was a fascinating woman.
