Calabria Looking for tips and places for low key trip to Calabria

My wife and I are looking to visit Calabria in October. We've been to Puglia and now want to visit Calabria. We travel for food and culture; prefer small B&Bs and hotels. Looking for advice on how to best get there from western PA, public transportation, places to visit, and any other advice re travel in Calabria.
