Modena..Food tour and/ or cooking class

Not exactly a food tour, but enjoyed both (and bought lots of stuff at both places) -- parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar

Castelnovo di Sotto

Modena
Acetaia Villa San Donnino, 2:00

The Caseificio 4 Madonne offers an excellent tour in English about their cheese production and a delicious tasting. Bookable online.

Not a food tour either, but a nice little trip 20-25 minutes outside Modena this past May. Balsamic vinegar tour, light snacks, and some wine after the tour. Acetaia Leonardi Via Mazzacavello 62, 41043 Magreta di Formigine (MO), and we did the Farmers snack Tour. It was pretty inexpensive as I remember. The market in Modena was really nice too!

About 10 years ago we used a guide recommended here, Alessandro & Italian Days. I just searched for him, and it seems that they have grown! New website and some new tours.

It was a GREAT tour. Smallish group - 12 - and included pick up, parmagiano factory tour and tasting, balsamic vinegar making and tasting (particularly interesting!), a prosciutto factory & tasting and then a multi-course lunch at a family restaurant. If you choose this, pace yourself!! We were so full we could barely eat lunch.

Another option, is to investigate the Eatwith.com meals and experiences (I think AirB&B also does something like this). We recently had dinner with a local couple in Nice, local ingredients for a typical dinner, at their home. It was delightful! We were the only "guests", it was intimate, great conversation and wonderful food.

Hi everyone. I have posed about my sister and I traveling to Sicily and Northern Italy for the month of May 2026. We will be firming up our plans soon. Here are the places we plan to visit:

Ctania-Acitrezza-Acicastello-Riposto
Selinunte-Mothia-Favignana
Tripani-Erice-Segeste
Cornino-Monte Cofano
Castelrotto/Kasteruth
Cortina d'Amprezzo-Cinque Torri

Our desire is to learn about the culture and people of these places - farming (making cheese, etc), food, truffle hunting??, outdoor adventures (not too strenuous). Any input would be appreciated. I will check Eatwell.com too. Accommodations on a farm, apartments so we can cook.

Thank you,
Marie
