Starting July 11, there will be new Frecciarossa trains serving Rome Fiumicino Airport, going to/from Naples and Florence without needing to change at a central Rome station:

Frecciarossa 8335 Fiumicino Aeroporto 9.38 - Napoli Centrale 11.33
Frecciarossa 8334 Napoli Centrale 5.45 - Fiumicino Aeroporto 7.52
Frecciarossa 9591 Firenze Santa Maria Novella 07.05 - Fiumicino Aeroporto 09.22

Naples is getting this service for the first time. For Florence, they aren't yet resuming the train they had leaving FCO shortly after 11 a.m.; the first direct train leaves at 13.53, well after most transatlantic arrivals.

That is fantasic news! Ever since they started the direct train to Florence from FCO a few years ago I've been waiting for them to expand to other cities.

This is interesting news....I have been recommending that my more affluent clients hire a car and driver to take them directly to Naples or the Amalfi Coast because of the challenging mechanics of taking the train. However, the 9:38 departure time seems a bit problematic for people landing at 7 am or later....deplaning, clearing immigration control, picking up luggage, and making the longish trek to the train station would all have to be aligned perfectly in order for travelers to take the train.

It's not clear to me that this is a permanent addition to the schedule, it was first announced as part of the Trenitalia Summer Experience promotion (see here: https://www.fsnews.it/it/focus-on/s...cciarossa-trenitalia-fiumicino-aeroporto.html).

However, this page on the Trenitalia site doesn't say anything about the service being temporary or seasonal: https://www.trenitalia.com/it/le_frecce/frecciarossa-per-fiumicino-aeroporto.html

That said, the Frecciarossa 8335 at 9:38 from the airport to Naples does not appear on the quadri orario and if you try to buy a ticket on it after September 16 it does not appear.

This past May we took a Frecciarossa from Ferrara directly to FCO. It was a real pleasure. Leaves at 10:39am and arrives 2:07pm. Overnight at FCO for an morning flight the next day.
