Norwich Market

Great to see recognition for the recent transformation of Norwich market, from functional with a handful of highlights, to something much more exciting

A couple of real highlights are briefly shown - the cheeseman (a long-standing cheese stall though in 20 years I've yet to see a man behind the counter!) & the Bun Box, which sells amazing steamed chinese style buns

Others highlights I'll pick out include
- a wonderfully stocked herb/spice stall, run by one of the more eccentric characters on the market
- Sicily market, serving Sicilian accented Italian food, and the place where our Italian class was taught how to make pizza (in Italian)
- The slightly misleadingly named Norwich electrical store, run by a guy whose stall looks a mess of vacuum. cooker and washing machine parts, but who can quickly ferret any part out, and has a somewhat photographic memory of people and the parts they sought.
- Walsingham farm shop - a new arrival, but an exciting one for some wonderful food (we'll be trying their haggis at the weekend)
- Bakers stall selling fine bread made by the guy's son, plus proper croissants
- Little red roaster coffee (the roast their own locally, one of a handful for brilliant Norwich coffee roasters)
Other street food stalls cover Spanish, French, Chilean, Turkish, Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, dutch mini pancakes, plus more traditional 'greasy spoon' and fish and chips (Lucy's is IMO the best fish & chips in town). Our team at work regularly head down to the market on a friday lunchtime to graze these stalls

Nearby Brick (one of the buildings backing onto the market) also do great pizza, and local pub the Sir Garnet Wolseley have cleaned up their act, and now encourage people to bring food in from the market to have with their drink.

Regards
Ian

It's good to hear that Norwich Market goes from strength to strength. Our market is a shadow of its former self now...
