There will possibly be a long series of rail strikes this Spring, see details in the article. In my previous experience with these strikes, the specific trains that are to be cancelled are detailed on the SNCF website the day before.

Thanks, this is helpful. We'll have a rental car next month in the south of France, but we were still thinking of a day trip by train at some point during our stay. We don't have much in the way of passenger trains in eastern Canada, so it's a bit of a thrill for us to use them in Europe! I'll bookmark this information so we can plan accordingly.
