Help Needed Quick Madrid Hotel Question

We just decided to head to Valencia on Friday (flights from NYC to Madrid are quite reasonable at the moment if anyone is interested). We fly into Madrid and will stay one night before catching the high-speed to Valencia. Any recommendations for a hotel in Central Madrid for that first night? We like areas with some degree of night life and also like our creature comforts, so something on the upscale side would be good. Proximity to Estacion Atocha is a plus but not a requirement.

We have nephew going to law school in Madrid - He's lived there for two years and recommends Hotel Atlantico http://www.hotelatlantico.es/en/ We plan to visit Spain in a year or two and trust his recommendation. Relatives have stayed there and positive reviews.

Just to close the loop in case others have a similar question. The day of arrival we stayed at the Only You Hotel Atocha. Nice. clean hotel directly across the street from Estacion Atocha -- 3 minute walk. The day before departure we stayed at Paseo Del Arte Hotel. Also nice and clean. It is a little farther from the train station - 7-8 minute walk (mostly due to some convoluted street crossing patterns). I would recommend either. As an aside, we had spectacular weather in Valencia!
