Our return flight was delayed by two days. We had booked a hotel, but in the morning that we were to relocate, we found that the reservation had fallen through. We scrambled to find something, concentrating on the area where we were staying, and opened the link for Gonfalone 6 for their B&B rooms. While we had the link open, the last such room became unavailable and we were told they had the 2BR apartment for €200/night. We decided OK, let's take that.

We were in Interno 1. (European 1st floor, one floor up on the small elevator.) There's a keypad entry system. Being in an apartment associated with a B&B, we didn't have access to their breakfast, but the staff (two friendly women) were around during the day. With such a short stay, we didn't take much advantage of the apartment features, but the site pictures reflect the place well. There was a lot of closet space. The living room and kitchen are combined, and the kitchen was well-supplied. Places to get groceries include the small self-service Coop on vicolo della Moretta. Wi-Fi worked well. The only time that noise was a problem was for the few minutes that the trash and recycling bins were emptied under our window; the traffic from the nearby Lungotevere with frequent sirens wasn't a problem.

We especially liked staying in a neighborhood familiar to us for time dating back to when we met in high school. It's part of the historic center of Rome that's picturesque and has a lived-in feel, with several bars and pleasant restaurants, if it isn't too disconcerting to go past the machine gun-toting guards at the headquarters of the anti-Mafia and -terrorism divisions of the police around the corner. In two directions the Vatican and Campo de' Fiori are nearby. Just outside the door there are stairs to the Lungotevere, where one can catch buses or cross the bridge across the Tiber to Trastevere. We'd be glad to stay here again.
