Sancerre restaurant

Hello SE friends,
We will be in Sancerre tomorrow night and realize that we didn't do any dining planning. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant? By "good" I mean good food and wine, it does not have to be fancy (but it could be). I'd like to make a reservation as soon as I can...ironic, isn't it, since I didn't do so or ask earlier?

Thank you,
Laura

If you want to stay put in Sancerre, our péniche-owner friend who anchors nearby likes l'Auberge La Pomme d'Or in town. I have not tried.
An alternative is to get goat cheeses from the famous farm Chévrerie des Gallands in Crézancy en Sancerre, get a fresh baguette and a bottle, and have an ace picnic.

Agree about L'Auberge La Pomme d'Or. We had an excellent meal there a few years back when we were at the language school in Sancerre.

Parigi -- glad to see you here again. I've missed you!

Closed! Closed! Closed! August vacations...but we dived well at L'écurie which self-promotes as a pizzeria but which actually has some great traditional dishes like "œufs en murette" and several dishes made with local chèvres.

Thank you!
