Sardinia - beach with easy access from town

Hello travellers,
We are having a serious look at Sardinia for summer 2020. Our family is 2 adults and 4 older kids (8,13,16,18). Any Sardinia tips appreciated and ideas for a good town to stop in for a week or two even. We appreciate it is hot, but love the beach and enjoying food.
