Because I have two-factor authentication on everything from FaceBook to my banks, I can't see how I can use a SIM card in another country due to the changing of the phone number.
When I login for the first time from an unknown network, all of those accounts will text a one-time authentication code to my cell phone number. If I no longer have that phone number, then I can't get the code. I'm talking about traveling with my iPhone only -- no other computer, no iPad with me.
Since I won't know the phone number of the SIM before I buy/install it, then I don't see how I could ever login to these accounts while in another country. If I'm wrong, please let me know what I'm missing.
While it's not cheap, I use Verizon TravelPass, which allows me to use my data and minutes as though I'm home, with my permanent cell phone number. It's $10 per day, but only on the days I use it while abroad. My only limit is my Verizon account, but I have a 5gb per month rollover, so that's never an issue.
Thanks.
