My husband and I will spend 6 nights in Barcelona and then have 4 unscheduled days before our plane leaves from Barcelona May 31.
The question is whether to spend the extra four days divided between Vic and Girona, with day trips from each, or experience something of southern France, since I speak French. We will not have a car.
At first we thought about spending 3 days in Arles, and the last night in Girona before our afternoon departure, but would like to cut down on travel time. We enjoy art and history museums, walking, good, simple food and a hotel room with more space than you typically get in Europe. Any towns, hotels, experiences to recommend? We live far from mountains, so the Pyrenees draws us more than the coast.
BTW, we are thinking of visiting the Nuria Valley as a day trip from Vic, and visiting Besalu or Ripoll from Girona.
