Wow, first trip to Spain. Two weeks in Andalucía from 10/29 to 11/11. We took the high speed train from Madrid to Granada. Discovered that our high speed train ticket also covered the local train from the airport (Terminal 4) to the Atocha station where we caught the high speed train. Granada was amazing. Met a relative who drove us from there to Malaga. We had a great apartment near the historic center and within walking distance of the Maria Zambrano bus and train station. Great town to just hang out, walk around and get to know the neighborhoods. We borrowed our relative's car and drove to Ronda and back. Beautiful small city, definitely a place to visit.. Then we took a bus to Sevilla. Here we had a small apartment on the outskirts of the city center. Lucked out and found out we were close to a metro station that would allow us to easily get to several stops in the city center. Our metro station (San Bernardo) was also the only metro station with a AVE train station as well. Loved Seville, we toured the Cathedral but mostly just wandered the different neighborhoods in the city center. Great place to hang out late in the evening and watch all the people out for the evening. Then we caught the AVE connector train to the local high speed station (again was amazed that our high speed tickets also allowed us on the connector trains on both ends of the trip); ended up in Madrid and flew home. My sister-in-law booked the first two apartments from home. I booked the first train ride from home using the Renfe app, which worked great, simple and easy to use. But in Spain I had some problems with that app and switched to Omio. Booked both bus and train tickets using that app. And used Booking.com to book our apartment in Seville. Loved all the places we were at. Folks were friendly and helpful (despite my very limited Spanish). Easy to get around (and I am a beginner at using public transportation). Can't wait to go back.
