Spammers now use AI

Pauline

Forums Admin
I like to post about spammers from time to time.

We are still getting 3 - 5 spammers through each day even with all the new protections I added. At least it isn’t 30 a day anymore.

Spammers are getting more clever now and using AI to generate posts! I think they plunk a forum post into the AI and then post the answer usually with a link to the site they are spamming for. But sometimes it is just to get onto the forums where later on they will post their link. I am catching them but it is interesting to see how they are all doing this now. Spam trends!

Thanks for the heads up Pauline. I've noticed an increase in spammers on some of the other discussion forums I frequent. Some are very obvious, others not.

I've also noticed an increase in A1 generated itineraries too. Many are completely unrealistic....

Here is a good example of a spammer posting a AI answer from today’s queue.

What is best food in UK?

UK is a city that offers one of the most diverse food scenes in the world, so it’s hard to pick just one “best” food. The city is a true melting pot of cultures, and you’ll find everything from traditional British dishes to international cuisines. If you want to experience something truly local, start with fish and chips – it’s a classic UK favorite, especially when eaten at a traditional pub or a small takeaway near the River Thames.

Another must-try is the English breakfast, a hearty meal that usually includes eggs, sausages, baked beans, toast, and mushrooms – perfect to kickstart your day of sightseeing. For a more elegant experience, you can enjoy afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream, and sandwiches at one of the city’s famous hotels.

But UK isn’t just about British food. You can explore amazing Indian curries on Brick Lane, authentic Chinese dishes in Chinatown, or Middle Eastern street food across the markets. Borough Market is also a great place to taste artisanal cheese, pastries, and international specialties.

So, the best food in UK really depends on your taste – but the mix of traditional British classics and global flavors makes it a food lover’s paradise.

Useful to see the style, and how it differs from usual 1st time posts. Thanks for sharing that.

Sounds like you've got more work to do, Pauline. But so glad you've shared so we can watch for it, too. I wonder when humans will be taking back our World? I am sort of glad to be at the end of my life cycle but do have concerns for my grandsons.
Ciao,

Interesting but not surprising that an AI answer to a question like that reads like a bland and impersonal magazine article or travel brochure - because that's presumably what it's trained on.

Of course, if it's tweaked for "more individual personality" by being trained on social media forums - well, it might get some "interesting" results!
