Taxi Fares Rome

In years past, my husband and I have arranged for a transfer from Fiumicino into a hotel located in the center of Rome. We are headed there once again. Taxi fares have risen to grandiose heights, at least double last year's fee. I guess this is yet another result of the Straits of Hormuz being closed.
Has anyone traveled by hired car from the airport into town recently and, if you have retained a company name, would you send that along? We have taken shuttles and buses but at our current ages (groan) following a 7 or 8 hour flight, we would just as soon stumble into a cab upon arrival.

No recent experience but we've used Rome Shuttle Limousine many times and have always been very happy with the service. Worth at least checking their current pricing.

We've also regularly used Rome Shuttle Limousine, but I'm not aware of such a recent increase in taxi fares. What shows on the city site is the fare list https://www.comune.roma.it/web-resources/cms/documents/Taxi_Tariffario_ITA_ENG_SPA.pdf established in 2024, with a fixed fare of €55 between FCO Airport and locations within the Aurelian Walls.

Thanks for taxi information. Large price increases are shown on websites for private cars. I have asked a previous driver for a price quote so we shall see.

FWIW, Rome Shuttle Limousine does private transfers - it will just be you. Their web site says their current rates for the service match the €55 for taxi transfers.

I know of no reason to not go to Fiumicino Terminal 1 taxi line and taking a fixed price 55 euro cab to anywhere in central Rome.

This is the first time in a very long time that we have flown into Rome, not driven ourselves. Getting from the car rental drop off to a taxi stand for us with two bags is a bit of a struggle (93 and 89) so we were hiring a private driver to pick us up at the car place. With us flying into Rome next month it will be easy to get a cab so that's what we will do.
