Tip on how to make an Ice pack

I read that you can make an ice pack by filling a ziplock with dish liquid and freezing it. Considering how difficult it can be to get ice cubes, and how quickly they melt, this is a great tip for home or traveling.

I can't help but imagine what it would be like if the ziplock came unzipped with one of these tucked against the back of your neck (the place I'm most likely to use an ice pack)

OMG, Chris, me too! On a hot summer night I love sleeping with a gel icepack against the back of my neck...the syrup would be horrible!
I often take one of my gel packs and throw it in my husband's checked bike bag and leave it behind. I also always have a ziplock baggie to fill if the icepack breaks or I forget it somewhere, but just water inside freezes so hard. I might try adding dish liquid or salt in a pinch next time.
