in order to visit the Vatican Gardens, you must go into the Vatican Museums main entrance (and security), and then head to the window for "guided visits". You probably already know that you cannot just visit the gardens on your own and must go with a guide.
So you are entering the Vatican Museums, and when you gardens visit is finished, you may proceed directly into the museums themselves. But you may not exit and re-enter.
