Polly Coles is an English writer married to an Italian violin-maker; I enjoyed reading her The Politics of Washing: Real Life in Venice, published in 2013, and reviewed here.
This week, in BBC Radio 3's late-night 'The Essay' slot (5 daily 15-minute talks), she's reading a week of essays on the same topic: how Venetians, and others, have adapted to life in 21st century Venice. The BBC Media page tells you more about the series, and the Radio 3 programme website is here. Listeners within the UK will be able to catch up listening any time during the next 4 weeks from the player on the website: I'm not sure whether this will work outside the UK, but there are a number of internet radio apps available which seem to get round the problem, not to mention the ip-masking solutions mentioned by Pauline elsewhere.
