Back in April, we were on a train in England that was delayed by more than an hour, which entitled us to a full refund. I filled out the paperwork, and when I arrived home in the USA last night, there was a check for 130 GBP waiting for me.
Now what??
I asked at my bank if they could accept this deposit, but it would cost about $50, maybe more, to process a deposit in foreign currency.
I do have a bank account in France and will be back there in September, though I have never deposited anything in my account-- just funded with wire transfers.
I also have checking and savings accounts with Schwab, and I'm trying to find out if they could handle.
Anyone have any other ideas? I won't be back in the UK until next April. I don't think it makes any sense to contact Great Western Railroad and see if they could possibly send me a debit card instead...
