Maiden Castle

Maiden Castle is one of the largest Iron Age hill forts in Europe (over 4,000 years old). It has multiple ramparts which protected several hundred residents. A small Roman temple was built here in the 4th century AD. The site was excavated in the 1930s and 1980s. Information panels guide you around the hill fort and illustrate its long history.
