Alpine Flowers

Switzerland is the best place in the Alps to see alpine flowers. They are at their best from mid-June to mid-July. The careful farming practices have ensured the abundance of flowers. They can easily be seen from the many walking trails. You can take a mountain ride (gondola, chairlift, train) to the alpine area and head out on a walking trail.

More Information

We visited the Bernese Oberland in June-July 2015 and saw many alpine flowers. The best, and the easiest to see, were in Grindelwald. Take the Grindelwald-First gondola to the top station (First). The best flowers are along the trail from First to Grosse Scheidegg (1.5 hour walk). When the trail splits take the upper route for the best flowers.

The flowers were also good on the Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg trail (Panoramaweg). This is an easy walk from the top of the Grindelwald-Mannlichen gondola to the train station at Kleine Scheidegg (1.5 hour walk).
