A New Old member….

Back in the days of Slow Travel, I was a very active member on the Italy forums. When my wife became ill and no longer traveled, I fell off the boards And didn’t travel since her passing. Fast forward some years and there is a new woman in my life who loves to travel. We have done some cruises and a trip to Paris and now we are venturing out. i Have been on Other travel sites on Facebook and am just stymied as to the closed mindedness of them. I’m back here to Slow Europe and will be active again! Same guy…
thanks to all… Doug

Welcome back Doug. As you say, there are definitely some closed minds out there on other sites (and some stroppy ones as well at times!!) Slow Europe is a lovely change from them.

I remember how many “friends” I’d made over the years on Slow Travel…many are still friends today!!… glad to come back home….

I remember you well Doug and agree with your comments about Slow Europe.
I’ve been a widow for 5 years now and started travelling solo outside of the UK this year.
I’ve not been very brave yet, just as far as The Netherlands, twice but I was taken aback to be asked if I always travelled on my own.

I wish you both happy travels.

Yes, I remember you as well! I’m widowed about the same amount of time. I was blessed to have met a wonderful woman to share life with and loves to travel. This adventure coming in August is our first big one with just the two of us!

Hi Wendy- it’s lovely to see you here. I’ve thought about how you are doing frequently. Visiting with you and Richard were always such a wonderful part of my travels to London.

ETA- I just noticed I’m a “new member” here . I was a moderator on SlowTrav, and have read a lot here but obviously not posted much.

Hello Maureen,
Great to hear from you. Thank you for kind comments too.
I’m hanging on in but my health is fragile & I struggle with loneliness from time to time .
How are you ?

Glad to hear you are hanging on, and sorry to hear about your fragile health. I am doing well, retired and working part-time. Living most of the time in Maine, with a dog for company.
