Location: Cancale, north east Brittany near Saint-Malo
Rental: Le Clos des Rimains, https://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1439161a
Date: 1 week in mid-June, 2017
The location is perfect, in a very nice residential neighborhood on the edge of the center of Cancale. The wonderful Sunday Market starts just a block from the house. Walk to the center of Cancale in minutes. Or walk to the sea in a few minutes and follow the coast path to the Port (10 mins).
This is a small house attached to the owner's home. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. They are French and speak English. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen, dining area, living room. No TV, wifi signal is not strong. Bathroom with shower downstairs. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bedrooms are a bit small with only one window each. You have your own garden area with nice outdoor furniture. The garden is beautiful.
This is a very nice town to stay in. Three or four good cafes in the center, a small Carrefour grocery, two very good bakeries, a good fruit and vegetable shop. The port, 10 minutes down a steep road from the center, is lively and full of restaurants and cafes. We had a good dinner at Chez Victor. The nearby beaches are fantastic, it is a short drive to Saint-Malo, Dinan, Dinard, Mont St Michel. We had a lovely week in Cancale.

I hesitated about recommending this rental because I was not happy with the wifi (you use the owner's wifi) and it was a bit expensive of a rental (note the extra charges for cleaning, sheets and towels). However, on reflection, the location of this rental makes up for this. We loved staying in Cancale. The owners house is a beautiful, historic house on a large property, in a very beautiful neighborhood. The roads are quiet, the area peaceful, but you are just a few minutes walk from a good cafe and bakery.
