Dublin Hotels

We're visiting Dublin for the first time and will be taking a Rabbies small coach tour to the SouthWest of Ireland. We found a nice hotel close to our departure point and central to the heart of Dublin. Buswells. If anyone knows this hotel or can suggest anything you prefer, please let us know. It's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Or do you?

I don't know the hotel, but a super central location

We stayed three nights at Buswell's in Sept. of 2019 and thought it was lovely. The hotel is much larger than it appears from the street in that it goes deep into the block. We had a first floor double room toward the back with a queen bed. The room was quiet. The reception area has an adjoining lounge that seemed to be the meeting point for tour groups staying there. We did not have breakfast, choosing instead to walk a couple of blocks to Bewley's Cafe on Grafton St.. For dinner or just a cocktail you might try The Bank on College Green. The architecture is gorgeous and the food delicious.

We stayed at Buswells in August 2022, before our Rabbie's tour. It was the perfect location for the bus from the airport, the Rabbie's departure point, AND Dublin in general. We found the people to be be kind and helpful, and the hotel itself was beautiful.

It gets consistently good reviews on Trip Advisor, including a lot of regular reviewers. (Negative reviews probably say more about the poster than the hotel...)

As a warning, there will probably be stairs. Even though there's a lift, you'll get off the lift, walk down 2 steps, then down a hall and walk up 3 steps. Staff are more than willing to take care of the luggage, but you'll probably face a few stairs.

Buswells is frequented by a lot of high-flyers. It is just across the road from the parliament buildings.

Thanks so much for your advice. Those 2 steps can be hazardous if in a hurry and you trip--as Sandra did in Venice. Following your upcoming trip to Ireland. Some places don't help with luggage and we'll have our share being to London first then Ireland for 3 weeks.

Yes, we're taking Rabbies too as we've done several times in England. Wales especially. On the Isle of Wight tour we met a fellow Canadian, a publisher who encouraged me to write my memoir Beyond the Terrazzo Veranda. Anything can happen when you travel--sometimes life changing.

Yes, agree. We will look at TA but Sandra wants a hotel with some character and, if the pictures are accurate, Buswells fits the bill. Thanks.

J, thanks for this very helpful info. We'll be there for five nights and have opted for the breakfast for the first 3 nights but will check out Bewley's for lunch. Buswells a la carte breakfast in the bar seems reasonable. Just got back from Bermuda and those buffet breakfasts are a killer--weight-wise. We need a lower floor room and will request one. Great help and will read your posted itinerary.
