Hi all. Am happy to have rediscovered this site after enjoying many years of great advice from slowtravel.com's very generous community. I recognize many of you from your slowtrav posts. We're going to Provence (Luberon) in September and counting down the days. We enjoy travel in all forms, mostly in multiweek home rentals, plus bike trips in Europe, but have also enjoyed a number of transatlantic cruises in the last few years...those sea days are truly slow travel . Thanks, in advance, for helping me out with your ideas and experiences.

Welcome, Tim -- good to have you back. One of our favorite restaurants in the Luberon is L'Arome in Bonnieux, and we've always enjoyed La Closerie in Ansouis. Tie a lunch visit there with the Tuesday market in nearby Cucuron. Will you go as far north as the Gigondas, Cairanne region?

Hi Ann. Thanks for the welcome back message... so nice to hear from you. Hopefully, the horrors of the volcanoes are no where near you (not sure on which island you live).

Thanks for the suggestions. Never got to l'Arome on our last visit, but will this time. We'll be in nearby Menerbes for 2 weeks. We absolutely will spend a day(at least) exploring the Cotes de Rhone villages - love that drive, and the tasting room in Gigondas. Do you have lunch suggestions up that way?

Tim

Hi Tim. No, the volcanoes are on the Big Island, and we're at Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu -- thank goodness. You can see our beach in the photo at left.

For a simple lunch, we love Du Verre a l'Assiette across from the tasting room in Gigondas -- sitting there under the plane trees drinking a glass of Gigondas seems like the essence of Provence. For a more elaborate lunch, we love Coteaux et Fourchettes, rte de Violés, D8 & D975 (south of Cairanne), 0490663599, a Michelin Bib Gourmand -- be sure to check its closing day. The Bistrot du'O in Vaison-la-Romaine is also exceptional.

Do you still have the same gmail address?

Ann, glad to hear you're no where near the devastation. The pictures are awful. So sad.

Thanks for the mention of the bistro across from the tasting room in Gigondas... we'll be sure to plan our visit around lunchtime.

Yes, same gmail.
