Ideas for Visiting Liguria September 2018

My favorite thing to do in Rapallo was a cooking class at U Giancu. You go in the morning and cook. Then go back in the evening and eat what you cooked. It was one of the highlights of my 50th birthday trip. Fausto was truly fun. I stayed in a hotel on the water, but make sure to wander around the part of town away from the water also.

Had noted earlier that we were following this tip and scheduling a class at U Giancu -- we did that on July 5 and it was every bit as wonderful as Tbk described. Fausto was a delight and is a man who loves his job, his staff, and those who come to enjoy his restaurant. The food prep was fun and coming back to dine was an equally great experience. One simple moment defined the day as we were wrapping up our kitchen work -- he took out the bread that we had helped prepare; sent one of the other members of our small group (4 of us) out into his garden to pick tomatoes; added the cheese and pesto that we had also made; sprinkled on some olive oil and handed us each a bruschetta that will stay in my memory forever (oh, and his son has a birreria on the premises for those of us who are not wine lovers).

So glad you enjoyed it even though you said you weren't much of a cook. Thank you for letting us know how it went.
