Movie In Search of Fellini

We're recent Netflix/Amazon Streaming converts. I ran across "In Search of Fellini" a few weeks ago.

The imdb summary is: A shy small-town Ohio girl who loves movies but dislikes reality, discovers the delightfully bizarre films of Federico Fellini, and sets off on a strange, beautiful journey across Italy to find him.

As a shy small-town Ohio girl (who left at age 10), I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It's loosely based on the experiences of Nancy Cartwright, who provides the voice for a number of "The Simpsons" characters. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the scenery ... well, it works for me.

They must've filmed the Italian scenes very early in the day as Verona, Venice, and Rome looked unpopulated at times.

I haven't seem the film but I am surprised to hear that much of it is filmed in Verona and Venice--these are not cities that are closely identified with Fellini.

We did make a Fellini pilgrimage several years ago to his hometown of Rimini.....lots of Felliniana there plus we stayed at a hotel where each room was devoted to a Fellini character.

And here is a link to an article about searching for Fellini in Rimini from the NY Times.

I wouldn't say "much" of it, but there was filming, more in Verona than in Venice. I know he filmed a good portion of his movies at Cinecitta. The main character starts in Verona, gets to Venice by accident, and eventually winds up in Rome.

Thanks for recommending the movie, Christine. I watched with my husband last night and we both really enjoyed it.
