I'll likely be in Ireland in Spring 2024. I'm considering a visit to the Isle of Man. Has anybody been there? Is it worthwhile?

Yes, YES and definitely YES

It is completely different experience and very relaxed. It's a bit like stepping back 25 years. There is the heritage transport - steam train, electric tram, tram up Snaefell as well as horse trams. It has ruined castles at Peel and Castletown and the lovely ruined Rushen Abbey. There are some beautiful sandy beaches at Port Erin, Port St Mary, and Peel. There are the glens to explore as well as mountains. The wild flowers and bird life are pretty good too. There is plenty of good walking and pubs serving beer brewed on the island. Bushy's is my beer of choice...

Have a read my trip reports fropm 2018 and 2019. we were also back for two weeks in 2022. I didn't do a trip report from them alough wrote up a series of dertailed travel articles. Some are included as links in the reports.,They can all be found here.

Public transport is excellent with buses starting early and running late. Douglas is the main transport hub but Peel. Ramsey. Laxey. Port Erin and Port St Mary all have good bus services. You can manage without a car.
