ITALO TRENO has now uploaded it weekly special discount promotion with code "MAGIA", for additional discounts of between 20% to 30%. You must purchase tickets prior to December 23 at 19:00 Italy time, and travel between January 1 and April 15, 2025.

https://www.italotreno.com/it/promo-week

For example, you can travel between Roma Termini and Firenze SMN for as little as 10.40 Euros ("Extra Christmas" discount fare plus the "MAGIA" coupon).

These weekly coupon discount promotions are typically posted online each FRIDAY. Take advantage of them!!! Compare ITALO's fares with those of rival Trenitalia.

For added protection, I recommend choosing the PARTIAL REFUND OPTION (called "Opzione Rimborso") which permits you to cancel the trip FOR ANY REASON within 72 hours prior to the train departure time, and get an 80% refund. The feature costs around 2.50 Euros per traveler per train and must be purchased simultaneously with the ticket. It is offered with discounted fares which are not otherwise partially refundable.

(Since the ticket example noted above costs only 10.40 Euros, some travelers might even opt to go without the partial discount option).

This extra discount promotion is serious business.

For example, you can travel between Milan and Reggio di Calabria (10 hours by train) for only 34.90 Euros ("Extra Christmas" fare together with the "MAGIA" coupon) compared to the "Flex" fare of 124.90 Euros. This is a 72% discount with a savings of 90 Euros per ticket!

Between Milan and Rome, the cheapest ticket is 20,90 Euros compared to the "Flex" fare of 89.90 Euros, a savings of 77% and 69 Euros per ticket.

Between Milan and Naples, the cheapest ticket is 24.40 Euros compared to the "Flex" fare of 94.90 Euros, a savings of 74% and 70.50 Euros.

Between Milan and Venice, the cheapest ticket is 9 Euros, compared to the "Flex" fare of 43.90 Euros, a savings of 79% and 34.90 Euros.

Italo Treno has just posted its new weekly coupon discount promotion, valid for travel between January 8 and April 15. You must purchase tickets prior to 19:00 on Monday, December 30, and insert the coupon name "BUONANNO".

The coupon sale adds an additional 20%-30% discount on existing discounted fares. There are 800,000 tickets available for sale with this new promotion.

For your own protection, I recommend adding the partial refund option ("OPZIONE RIMBORSO") for 2.50 Euros per ticket, which allows you to cancel FOR ANY REASON up to 72 hours before scheduled train departure, and get an 80% refund. This must be purchased simultaneously with the ticket.

Italo Treno has just posted its new weekly coupon discount promotion, valid for travel between January 18 and April 15. You must purchase tickets prior to 19:00 on Tuesday, January 7, and insert the coupon name "BEFANA".

The coupon sale adds an additional 20%-30% discount on existing discounted fares. There are 700,000 tickets available for sale with this new promotion.

Here is an example of the extra savings: from Milan to Rome, Extra Christmas discount fare of 26.50 Euros (with the extra discount coupon) instead of the normal 37.90 Euros (an additional discount of 30%). The normal "Flex" fare is 89.90 Euros, so the total discount is 70.5%.

From Florence to Rome, Extra Christmas discount fare of 10.40 Euros (with the extra discount coupon) instead of the normal 14.90 Euros (an additional discount of 30%). The normal "Flex" fare is 44.90 Euros, so the total discount is 76.8%.

BTW, it's not easy to hire a taxi for a ride in central Florence or Rome for only 10.40 Euros.

BTW, always check for any Trenitalia special discounts, posted on the Italian-language website or app. There's an extra savings promotion on right now, which expires at 18:00 on January 7:

UPDATE:

Italo Treno has just posted its new weekly coupon ADDITIONAL discount promotion, valid for travel between January 28 and April 15. You must purchase tickets prior to 19:00 on Monday, January 13, and insert the coupon name "SALDI".

The coupon sale adds an additional 20%-30% discount on existing discounted fares. There are 650,000 tickets available for sale with this new promotion.

For your own protection, I recommend adding the partial refund option ("OPZIONE RIMBORSO") for 2.50 Euros per ticket, which allows you to cancel FOR ANY REASON up to 72 hours before scheduled train departure and get an 80% refund. This must be purchased simultaneously with the ticket.

An example of savings: between Rome and Florence, at the "Extra Magic" discounted fare, 10.40 Euros versus 44.90 Euros regular "Flex" fare (which becomes 49.90 Euros if purchased same day or one day beforehand). That's a total discount of 79%.

UPDATE:

AS EXPECTED, Trenitalia has matched the latest Italo Treno Super Discount Coupon Promotion with a very similar promotion, as follows:

A 30% ADDITIONAL discount on the Trenitalia discounted FrecciaDays and Super Economy fares for travel on all Freccia trains between January 27 and April 13, using the coupon code "SPRINT25" (all capital letters).

Tickets must be purchased no later than 19:00 on Monday January 13. Don't forget to enter the coupon code noted above, for each passenger.

For your own protection, I recommend adding the partial refund option ("TiRIMBORSO") for 2 Euros per ticket, which allows you to cancel FOR ANY REASON up 23:59, Italy time, two days before scheduled train departure and get a 90% refund. This must be purchased simultaneously with the ticket.

An example of savings: between Rome and Florence, at the "FrecciaDays" discounted fare, 13.90 Euros versus 50.00 Euros regular "Base" fare (which becomes 55 Euros if purchased same day or one day beforehand). That's a total discount of 75%.

Italo Treno, as is its habit, has posted its weekly discount coupon sale, valid for travel between February 3 and April 15, with the coupon name 'SCALDA" which must be entered when prompted to get a discount of UP TO 40% off of the usual discount. There are 600,000 tickets available with this coupon promotion.

To get this discount, you must buy the ticket by 19:00 on Monday January 20.

Don't forget to purchase the "OPZIONE RIMBORSO" partial refund option simultaneously with ticket purchase, which allows you to cancel the trip FOR ANY REASON no later than 72 hours prior to scheduled train departure and receive an 80% refund.

As an example of this super discount, a ticket between Rome and Florence goes for as little as 10.40 Euros, versus the regular "Flex" fare of 49.90 Euros when bought on the day of travel or one day in advance. That's a total discount of 79%.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE COUPON NAME "SCALDA".

TRENITALIA is running a similar discount coupon promotion called "ARTE25", valid for travel ON FRECCIA TRAINS between February 3 and April 13. Tickets must be purchased no later than 18:00 on Monday January 20. It gives a 20% discount off of the discounted "Super Economy" and "FrecciaDays" fares.

Again, don't forget to buy the "TiRIMBORSO" partial refund option, which gives you a 90% refund if you cancel FOR ANY REASON no later than 23:59 (Italy time) two days prior to scheduled train departure. (For the "FrecciaDays" fare, the refund is given in the form of a travel voucher for future travel valid one year and cannot be converted to cash).

As an example, a ticket between Rome and Florence goes for as little as 15.90 Euros, versus the regular "Base" fare of 55 Euros when bought on the day of travel or one day in advance. That's a total discount of 71%.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE COUPON NAME "ARTE25" FOR EACH PASSENGER.
