Lucca...Parking

On our next trip to Sant'Antonio, outside Montepulciano, we are finally going to take a day trip to Lucca. My only question is about parking. Are the lots well marked? Are they outside the walls? Really don't know what to expect.

We were in Lucca, mind you a while back, and I remember a very large lot just outside the walls where we parked and strolled into town. Very easy and we very much enjoyed the fact that within the walls, traffic was at a minimum.

Course, we were there in November. Not sure how easy it would be during the season.

Thanks Kevin, We are very much looking forward to our day trip to Lucca. We've stayed at Sant'Antonio many times, and have decided to take only one long day away from the area this trip. Lucca is one of the few towns we haven't visited and know parking can become an issue everywhere, so appreciate your help

There's parking just outside the walls and also several smaller lots inside and one large underground one inside the walls. To get to the underground one enter through Porta Elisa and make an immediate right. You'll see the entrance about a block down on the left. You'll be on Via Bacchettone. The only time it's really crazy in Lucca is the end of October when they host Lucca Comics, the European version of Comicon, and it's combined with Halloween so there are hugs tents full of vendors everywhere and people on costume.
