Just spent ten days in lovely Venice, and became aware of a drink I had never heard of in many trips to Italy. It's called a Hugo Spritz.
It's made with prosecco, soda or seltzer water, and elderflower cordial or liqueur, with mint leaves and a wedge of lime.
Delicious!!
The barman in one place showed us the bottle of the liqueur, and it was called "Hugo".
Some bars had never heard of it at all.
Apparently the elderflower is grown in the Dolomites, and the cordials and liqueurs are made there.
Any way, it is very refreshing! and a change from an Aperol Spritz.
I bought some French elderflower liqueur when I got home, and tried to make it; it wasn't as sweet, so I think making it with cordial would be better.
