Northern Ireland - The Dark Hedges

In today's Guardian there was a photo of The Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland - a lane lined with beautiful, tall trees. Very magical looking. I looked it up and here is some info.

The Dark Hedges: Romantic, atmospheric, tunnel-like avenue of intertwined beech trees, planted in the 18th-century.
Address: Bregagh Rd, Ballymoney BT53 8TP
Province: Ulster
User comments: No parking, lots of people walking.

The trees line the road to Gracehill House, a Georgian mansion. They were used in filming Game of Thrones which is what brings the visitors to the attraction. Some of the trees were damaged in a storm a year ago.

Unfortunately one of these wonderful trees got uprooted by Storm Doris yesterday.

Unfortunately one of these wonderful trees got uprooted by Storm Doris yesterday.

Yes, we have a rather open plan garden at the moment. The gate still works, but now opens vertically rather than horizontally.

At least it was only one. That storm barely hit us in Dorset. Some strong wind but we get that a lot here.
